"...Like Jesus loves the church."

"...Husbands... love your wives, just as Christ loved the church."
{Ephesians 5:25, NLT}

I randomly thought of this verse about a week ago. As is the case whenever I run across it, the thought was accompanied by a silent cry: "Oh, how I want to be loved like that! Loved as crazily, as madly as God loves His people!" 

And then it hit me.

I am!

I am loved as crazily as God loves His people!

Because I AM one of God's people!!!!

I know, I know: duh. It's so simple I wanted to kick myself for not seeing it earlier. Oh well, that aside - isn't it wonderful!!! When we read this verse we (or at least I do, and come on, I'm pretty sure there are some others with me....) often dream of how deeply we would be loved by a husband if he loved us like God loves the Church. (For goodness sake, Christ gave his LIFE for the Church!!!! Wouldn't it be so ridiculously amazing to be loved like that!) But we all to often forget the surpassingly more amazing fact that we are loved like Christ loves the Church - because we are part of the church!! Jesus gave his life for us. There is no greater love than that. Human loved can't compare.

It really can't.
